Dear Hiring Manager,
I am a third-year Mechatronics Engineering student at the University of Waterloo, interested in applying for the position at . Since my relevant technical achievements are highlighted in my resume, I'd like to take the following paragraphs to tell you more about myself.
I've always been described as perseverant; no matter what I take on, I see it through - whether it's hiking solo for seven days through the Scottish Highlands or developing a truss optimization algorithm in a few days to win a competitive project.
But what I value most from these experiences, and what drives my perseverance, is learning. I didn't spend 10 hours a day on a truss algorithm only to get a 2% higher grade in my class - I did it because I was learning fundamental ML/AI concepts. I didn't code an STM32 RTOS in Rust with no HAL or PAC to have another project for my resume - I did it to learn Rust and the low-level workings of microcontrollers.
